Has it become fashionable to be a failure now?
Every one is talking about the time they failed. Good for them. I, for one, am not about to romanticise it. Simply because failure is not as sexy as it is made out to be.
Everyone talks about the lessons you draw from failure but the death you die every time you fail, not many talk about it. I won’t either because there really isn’t much for anyone to learn from my failures.
If I had my way, I would want to succeed all the time. Isn’t that the point of lessons? To succeed?
Of course you will fail, but let’s not glorify it.
For every Steve Job and a Jack Ma that failed and rose like a Phoenix, there are millions that just couldn’t get up after the big fall. Humpty Dumpty didn’t either, the stupid egg cracked. A lot us crack.
Every failure kills a little bit of you.
After some 10 failures, its difficult to recognise yourself and neither will you want to accept that you have become a different person. Your moral compass changes.
You have to look really hard into the mirror and ask yourself – who succeeded? You or the new you? The new you who is so hardened and relentless that you only care about yourself and wouldn’t bat an eyelid to throw a team member to the wolves, brown nose your way up to success so slickly that your old self would crumble with shame, And then, you wouldn’t hesitate to write about the glory of failure and the lessons from it.
What did you really learn from it?
Failure might make for a good story if you are in the business of story telling, if not, let it be.
Instead, dream, aspire, work, learn, diversify your skills & interests, have a plan B and once in a while, tune in to a story tellers page to marvel what you didn’t miss in life.
Don’t bite the pill if you are not sick; it just makes you a junkie.
